Poor fountains — they just can’t seem to catch a break. From dirty birds landing in them for an impromptu bath to people tossing random coins in them, it’s not easy being a fountain.
Add to this the knowledge that at any given moment, some awful person can dump a bottle of dish soap into the water and create this dramatic (and frankly terrifying) explosion of bubbles. We can’t imagine how awful the cleanup on this was, considering the bubbles seem to have expanded into the road!
What if You Poured Dish Soap Into a Fountain?
Poor fountains — they just can't seem to catch a break. From dirty birds landing in them for an impromptu bath to people tossing random coins in them, it's not easy being a fountain.
Add to this the knowledge that at any given moment, some awful person can dump a bottle of dish soap into the water and create this dramatic (and frankly terrifying) explosion of bubbles. We can't imagine how awful the cleanup on this was, considering the bubbles seem to have expanded into the road!
What if You Exposed Your Hair to -20º F Temperatures While Sitting in a Hot Spring?
Most of us do some pretty silly things when we're on vacation, but usually, those things don't involve being silly in below-zero temperatures.
This woman just couldn't help herself from mugging for the camera after her hair froze in this hilariously bizarre way while she and her husband sat in a natural hot spring. The reason for the deep freeze? The outside temperature was a balmy -20º F! We're shivering just thinking about it!
What If You Left a Bag of Grass Seed Out?
For whatever reasons, we forget most of the things on our "to-do" lists. This person accidentally left a bag of grass seed out in their garden only to find that Mother Nature decided to pick up where he left off.
As one Reddit user pointed out — why does it seem that the grass grows so well in its bag but not when you actually plant it? The world may never know, but what we do know, judging by this picture, is that nature always seems to find a way.
What if You Freeze-Dried Sour Gummy Snakes?
If you've ever looked at a gummy sour snake and asked yourself, "how can I make this candy look even stranger?" you now have your answer. This curious candy connoisseur decided to do a little science experiment on her snack stash resulting in these puffy gummies.
It turns out that the freeze-drying process, known as sublimation, affects the candy's moisture levels, turning it into vapor which then expands, resulting in these air-filled sour snakes. While these look cool, we like our gummy bears soft and chewy.
What if You Let Play-Doh Sit for a Decade?
Whether it was the fun colors or the silly tools that came in the Play-Doh kit, everything about this brightly-colored dough made it seem edible. If you were brave (or foolish) enough to steal a lick, you probably realized that it was extremely salty.
Play-Doh actually contains large amounts of salt that serves as both a preservative and to add texture to the clay. This clay, having been untouched for a decade, had all of its moisture evaporated, leaving just a bunch of salt crystals and a very confused person.
What if You Microwaved a Bag of Chips?
You would think that a microwave is just there to heat up food, but unfortunately, you'd be wrong. Some people foolishly use this common kitchen feature to do all sorts of science experiments, including seeing what would happen if they microwave an empty chip bag.
It turns out that microwaving the empty bag makes the polymers of the bag curl up and shrink while still keeping their general state. But while this picture may seem interesting, doing this experiment will most likely ruin your microwave or even start a fire!
What If You Pulled off 30 Years' Worth of Graffiti?
While there are some amazing examples of street art, most property owners loathe the idea of graffiti artists adding their creative "art" onto their buildings. This person chipped off a chunk of paint from a building in the Netherlands called the "Doornroosje" in the city of Nijmegen.
Once the center of the city's counter-culture movement, today it functions as a music studio and the building serves as a graffiti hall of fame. Like the rings of a tree, each of these paint layers tells a story spanning over 30 years!
What if You Left Fruit in Your Locker for Six Months?
Many of us have heard the saying, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away," but somehow, we don't think they were referring to this apple! This person wanted to bring some healthier snacks to work.
Unfortunately, there was an issue at their job, and they were forced to leave their office and not return for half a year. Their work locker, and the fruits inside, were left untouched for months. When they returned, they were greeted by these strange mummified objects that apparently were once juicy ripe fruits.
What if You Freeze-Dried Skittles?
Love them or hate them, skittles are one of the most popular candies in the world. Thanks to their strangely funny commercials, these bite-sized fruity candies have made them a popular staple in most snack drawers. But did you know that people have found a new way to enjoy them?
People have started to freeze-dry skittles because not only does freeze-drying help preserve the candies for decades, but it turns the signature chewiness of the skittle into a light and crunchy texture. We would actually love to try them!
What if You Cooked Eggs on the Sidewalk During a Heatwave?
We've all heard people say that it's hot enough to fry an egg, but is it really possible? During a particularly brutal heatwave, this Australian decided to see if the old adage was true.
While outside temperatures in some parts of Australia reached 113 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of this pan was probably significantly higher. Considering that eggs start to cook at around 140 degrees, we're sure that pan (and those eggs) were just too hot to touch! Pretty scary to think of such extreme weather.
What if You Left a Black T-Shirt in the Sun for Years?
We spend a large portion of our lives in our cars. It's not surprising, then, that we sometimes even keep a spare change of clothes in our vehicles.
This person forgot that they had left a black shirt in their car until they found this artistically tie-dyed shirt instead of the plain black shirt they initially remembered. It seems that years of being exposed to the sun's UV light broke down the dye in the garment, leaving these interesting lines that look like they were purposely applied.
What if You Left a Can of Soda in a Hot Car?
We all know that a closed car can reach temperatures far higher than outside temperatures, but did you know that it could get so hot inside a car that a closed can of soda could explode?
As the temperature rises, it increases carbonation, resulting in more carbon dioxide being released. As the amount of this gas increases, pressure on the walls of the soda increases as well. Too much pressure, and boom! You now have a sticky soda explosion to find when you return to your car.
What if a Lightning Bolt Hit Sand?
We're sure it doesn't come as a shock to learn that lightning bolts are extremely hot. They are so hot, in fact, that at 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, they're about five times hotter than the sun's surface.
When they hit the ground, they can basically melt sand and silica found in most rocks or soil. This fused and melted ground becomes known as fulgurite or "fossilized lightning." Finding natural fulgurite is extremely rare given its delicate nature, but an artist has created their own using similar temperatures and similar voltage found in lightning, which is what you see in this picture.
What if No One Trimmed an Ornamental Cabbage?
Far from being just another healthy food, cabbage might now help us stay away from junk food. Some people actually buy cabbage to decorate their gardens! These varieties of ornamental cabbage can produce some beautiful and lush additions to any outdoor area.
The catch, however, is that this fast-growing plant needs to be trimmed regularly. Otherwise, you may have a colossal cabbage on your hand! Just think of how much salad that could make!
What if You Tried to Photocopy Money?
Before we explain, any further, photocopying currency is not only highly illegal (seriously, expect a knock at your door), but it's also completely futile given the high-tech measures most currencies are equipped with to prevent this sort of fraud.
Most currencies contain something called the "EURion Constellation" that prevents copy machines, scanners, and even photo-editing software from copying the bill. Some have even been known to shut down or automatically alert the feds. This is definitely not something you want to try at home.
What If You Left a Marker in an Oven for Ten Minutes?
It's safe to say that school supplies and kitchen appliances probably aren't a great match, but this person decided that it would be a good idea to essentially bake a permanent marker at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes.
The result? This artistic-looking cloud of black ink apparently escaped through a small hole in the marker as temperatures soared. While the poster said this little experiment was the result of a marker being accidentally left in an oven, we have trouble buying that story.
What if You Microwaved a CD?
We've all experienced the terrible scent of fish being microwaved or burnt popcorn, but if you thought those two pungent scents were awful, you couldn't imagine dealing with a microwaved CD.
Not only does microwaving a CD release a terrible smell, but the smell is actually the release of toxic and dangerous gas. This person tried to microwave a CD — a move many experts say can permanently damage your oven. We know CDs are pretty obsolete at this point, but there has to be a better way of getting rid of your collection.
What if a Canadian Five-Dollar Bill Caught Fire?
Given the current situation in most of the world, few of us have money to burn — that is, unless it's for science. This person was curious to see what a Canadian bill would look like after catching fire.
The answer? It looks like something that has been covered in some sort of mold. It seems that some Canadian banknotes actually contain polymers that have the potential to curl up and shrink when exposed to high temperatures. We have a feeling that most stores probably won't accept it!
What if You Left a Sack of Potatoes in a Basement for Months?
It seems like a horror movie: an innocent person leaves a sack of potatoes in their basement only to find that it has turned into a sinister-looking hairy monster! While we doubt these potatoes are out looking for blood, it certainly looks pretty scary to us!
It turns out that potatoes aren't too picky about where they choose to sprout, and a dingy, dark basement is just fine. We just hope this person wasn't too scared to find these spooky spuds in his basement!
What if You Don't Eat an Artichoke?
While artichokes aren't the most popular, they are increasingly becoming more common as they contain a large number of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Though eating it may take some time to get used to, lovers of this edible thistle love the taste and texture.
But if you choose not to cultivate and eat your artichoke, you may be surprised to see that deep within that green plant, a beautiful blue and purple flower has blossomed. While this means the artichoke is no longer edible, it's still very beautiful to look at.
What if Termites Devoured a Book?
Few words strike fear into the hearts of homeowners quite like the word "termites." These tiny insects have no problem gorging themselves on wood and other components of houses — they will literally eat you out of house and home!
It seems that even the paper used to make books isn't safe from these voracious eaters. This person uploaded a picture of a book after a bunch of termites had their fill, and the results are just shocking! We can't even imagine what they would do in a library!
What if You Left Gum in Your Car Over the Summer?
We've all experienced the burning hot pain of trying to put on your car's seat belt during summer. It turns out that when it's hot outside, the internal temperature of your car can be close to double that of the outside temperature!
This person left their car parked in the sun over the summer. Foolishly, he forgot a pack of gum and came back to find this alien-like lumpy blob instead. We just hope he didn't leave anything else in the hot car!
What if a Cat Plays With a Plasma Ball?
When it comes to popular videos or photos on the internet, no one goes viral quite the way cats do. From hilarious hijinks to adorable sounds, we can't get enough of these whiskered troublemakers!
This cat named Smooch decided to get in touch with his scientific side and play with his owner's plasma ball, resulting in something straight out of a superhero movie! This perfectly-timed photo captured the cat's paw being illuminated by the alternating electric currents flowing inside the plasma ball.
What if You Put Soap in the Microwave?
Soap is not just for cleaning our bodies anymore. This bubbly bathroom staple is now being used for a variety of science experiments for the truly bored or in need of a new microwave among us.
This person decided to potentially damage their microwave in the spirit of scientific curiosity (but probably to go viral on social media) with this image of what happens when a bar of soap is microwaved. We admit we were quite surprised to see that this is what happens!
What if You Left a Bike Chained to a Tree for 60 Years?
One of the most amazing things about nature is its ability to adapt. Sixty years ago, a bicycle was chained to this large tree. For whatever reason, the bicycle was never claimed, yet the tree continued to grow.
Decades later, it seems as if the tree has almost swallowed up the bike or that the bike has become one with the tree. We would be pretty spooked to see this creepy tree/bike as it looks like something sinister may have happened to the bike's owner.
What if You Left Sugar in a Jar for 20 Years?
One of the most important ingredients to have on hand is sugar. From baking to your morning coffee, this sweet staple is found in almost every home across the world.
This person's grandmother had apparently forgotten about this small jar of sugar when she was packing up some things for her storage unit. It was only decades later that her grandchild found this moldy surprise! We hope it was promptly thrown out.
What if You Cooked a Pizza for 13 Hours?
Before we continue, we must say that you should always follow the directions on the box when reheating or cooking frozen foods. Now, this person, who admittingly consumed a few too many adult beverages, decided to play pizza chef one night.
Thirteen hours later, he found this charred burnt frisbee-like thing in his oven. We just hope he'll reach for the phone next time and just order a pizza. It's a miracle his house didn't catch on fire!
What if You Used a Spoon for 45 Years?
Like socks, it seems that certain pieces of silverware always seem to disappear. That isn't the case, however, for this grandmother. Not only has she used the same trusty teaspoon for almost half a century, but she has no plans on tossing it, even if the shape has changed.
Because she has used it in the same way for so many decades, the spoon's once-rounded part has become worn down and is now more square-like. We wonder if the mug also shows signs of wear and tear.
What if a Strawberry's Seeds Started to Germinate?
You may not have noticed it when taking a large bite, but strawberries are actually covered in tiny seeds. These seeds have the potential to become new strawberry plants! If they don't get dunked in chocolate and eaten first, that is.
This picture shows what happens when each of these little seeds begins to germinate and start the process of becoming new plants. Considering the fact that strawberries aren't the easiest to grow, it's pretty amazing to see these tiny leaves sprouting!
What Happens When Molten Steel Hits the Floor?
Looking at this picture, you might think this man is holding a bunch of silver buttons or even pieces of jewelry, but he's actually holding drops of molten steel that have accidentally landed on the floor.
While we can't imagine getting splashed by melted metal, it's interesting to see what it looks like after it hits the floor and cools. We think we would definitely wear these unique pieces of metal as jewelry or as a keychain — not a bad idea if this person ever decides to stop working as a welder!
What if the Soap Dispenser in a Car Wash Breaks?
From adventures in off-roading to well-fed birds, there are many reasons why people turn to professional car washes to keep their vehicles clean.
This person was surprised, however, to see that the machine that dispenses the tri-colored (typically more expensive) soap had broken and released rainbow-colored foam everywhere. While we feel bad that the person wasn't able to fully wash their car, it's pretty mesmerizing to look at this colorful mess on the floor!
What if the Pipes Under a Basketball Court Burst?
Though it may seem pretty innocent, water has the ability to completely damage a building or other structure. This person shared a photo of what happened to their basketball court after the pipes running beneath it burst.
And while the results look almost like a picture that's been edited, it's actually real. The water has completely warped the floor of this court, and the whole court will probably need to undergo extensive reconstruction. Guess basketball season is being postponed?
What if Dough Continued to Rise, Even After Being Thrown Away?
As anyone who has baked can attest, there's something both fascinating and slightly scary about a rising dough. It seems that once the dough starts rising, it almost takes on a life of its own. This person snapped a picture of this dumpster located behind a Papa John's pizza restaurant, seemingly bursting with still-fermenting and rising dough in it.
Naturally, the story about the terrifying "dough monster" went viral in the U.K., where it was spotted. We just feel bad for the sanitation workers who had to empty that dumpster!
What if You Found the Missing Part of Your Zip-Off Jeans?
The '90s were an era that both baffled and terrified most fashion stylists, and one of the biggest fashion sins had to have been the popularity of zip-off clothing. From jackets that featured removable sleeves to pants that could be unzipped to reveal shorts, zip-off clothing was extremely popular.
Over the years, this person lost the bottom component of their zip-off jeans. Luckily, he found them… decades later. Over the years, it's clear to see that the unused jeans are far darker than their much-beloved denim shorts.
What if You Mixed Coke Zero With Fanta?
Many of us have taken advantage of the many varieties of soda found in the soda fountain in order to create some fun (but usually disgusting) new drinks. This person decided to combine two popular sodas in the name of science.
It turns out that because they have different densities, Coke Zero (which contains artificial sweeteners) separates from the Fanta, which contains real sugar. While we're sure the two will eventually mix, especially if stirred with a spoon or straw, it is pretty cool to see this layered drink.
What if a Leaf Landed in Freezing Water?
For some people, there is nothing better than dining outside — even in freezing temperatures. This person was enjoying a cup of water al fresco and accidentally left their glass outside.
Considering the cold temperatures of the Netherlands, where this image was taken, it's not surprising that the water froze. Also not surprising to see that a small leaf that had fallen into the water became perfectly preserved in this round icy ball.
What if You Accidentally Hit Yourself in the Eye When Wearing Glasses?
We've all had accidents that are pretty embarrassing to share because of how silly or ridiculous they are. This person, however, has no shame in sharing the crazy self-inflicted accident they had when trying to tear off a zip-tie.
The accident resulted in them punching their own face, leaving this crazy mark on their glasses. We can't imagine how painful that must have been. Ouch! Let's hope they use scissors next time or at least get some industrial-strength goggles!
What if a Lightbulb Burned Out?
Like many things in life, light bulbs don't last forever. For a variety of reasons, the filament in most lightbulbs will eventually burn out, making the bulb unable to produce light.
But while the bulb can no longer light up your home, these burned-out bulbs can make for very cool home accessories. This person has shared a burned-out lightbulb with many mesmerizing swirls and colors, making it look almost like a shiny marble. It almost looks too pretty to dispose of!
What if a Car Ran Over a Laptop?
In a picture that would make most IT experts squirm, this person has shared what a laptop looks like after being run over by a car.
While we don't exactly know the story behind the laptop becoming roadkill, we would actually be quite curious to know how it happened. Either way, we think this person is going to have a hard time being able to finish their work, even if they try turning it on and off again!
What if You Accidentally Washed a Book in the Washing Machine?
Though we can understand accidentally washing a receipt or other small piece of paper, we're having trouble understanding how an entire hardcover book found its way into this person's washing machine.
For whatever reason, this person "accidentally" washed this large book and shared an image of the damaged text. We can't imagine the number of tiny pieces of paper that will forever be left in the machine or the mess it made. Let's just hope that it wasn't a library book!
What if a Cell Phone Fell Into an Industrial Paper Shredder?
For being such an important part of our everyday lives, modern cell phones are surprisingly fragile. Even a bit of moisture is enough to damage them, let alone accidentally dropping them into an industrial paper shredder like this unfortunate soul.
This poor phone looks like it lost the fight with the paper shredder, much to the horror of its owners. We know we're not usually supposed to have our phones on us while we're at work, and now we know why!
What if a Bird Slammed Into a Window?
Birds, like most animals, often have difficulty adapting to a world with modern human inventions such as windows. These aerial animals will often fly into windows because they are attracted by the window's reflections of vegetation or something interesting inside the home.
Sadly, these collisions cost the lives of countless birds to the point where some structures use opaque windows or silhouettes of predatory animals to discourage the birds. This unlucky bird seems to have crashed into this window, leaving a detailed print of its body. We just hope it's okay!
What if You Left a Cucumber to Overripen?
Who can resist the delicious crunch of a cucumber? These popular salad ingredients don't always stay green. It seems that while green is the color we most associate with cucumbers, they actually have the potential to turn a variety of colors, including orange!
If left on the vine, the cucumber will continue ripening, turning a yellow or orange color, becoming rounder and larger. Unfortunately, these over-ripened cucumbers will also take on a very bitter taste — not the best for your salad.
What if a Metal Chain Was Left on Plastic on a Hot Day?
As anyone who has had the misfortune of accidentally touching a hot metal slide in a playground on a summer day knows — metal can get extremely hot when left in the sun for too long.
This person shared a startling image of just how hot metal can get. It seems that the metal chain wrapped around this plastic container got so hot it actually melted the plastic, leaving an indentation where the chain was. We can't imagine such hot weather. Let's just hope that whoever took this photo took it from an indoor location!
What if You Tried to Smile While Skydiving?
There are many reasons why people might smile, and while all of those are probably good reasons, not every situation is the best time to show off your pearly whites — like when you're flying through the sky at over 100mph after being launched out of a helicopter.
This person tried their best to "grin and bear it" through their skydiving experience with hilarious results. As the wind and gravity take effect, his smile (and face) have become extremely warped. We don't know how he was able to smile during such a scary event!
What if You Left a Ladder in a Pool of Water?
Usually, the idea of an abandoned ladder in the middle of the woods would be creepy. But in the case of this ladder, found in France's Jura mountains, we're more curious than creeped out.
It seems that the ladder, left there about 150 years ago, has become calcified by decades of rainwater containing traces of calcium and magnesium. Over time, a thick layer of mineral deposits formed. While it may seem tempting to try to climb that ladder, we think it's probably safer to look at it from afar.
What If You Left a "Hatching Egg" Toy in Water for Two Weeks?
Growing up, many of us loved those magical "hatching egg" toys. These toys typically contained an egg with some sort of animal inside that, when exposed to warm water over a day or so, would "hatch" and grow.
While the directions on the box typically recommend a period of about 24 hours, this family accidentally let their dinosaur egg incubate for two weeks when they left for a vacation. It's a miracle that they didn't come home to a dinosaur the size of their house!
What if Cars Were Parked Near a Fire?
Like most fires, fires in residential buildings can happen suddenly and spread rapidly. Not only is the fire a threat to the building, but the high temperatures can also damage things that are nearby, like these cars.
While the metal frames of the car seemed okay, the plastic components, such as the covers for the lights and the car's bumper, have melted off completely! This damage to their cars may be inconvenient to deal with, but we're sure the people in this building are just happy to be safe!
What if You Left Your Door Open During High-Tide in San Diego?
San Diego is known for its stunning cliffside beaches and numerous flippered residents — thousands of seals and sea lions. These sea mammals tend to live near the beach, but they occasionally venture out to more exciting locales like this person's home!
We're sure this person was surprised to come home and find this adorable seal pup just sitting at this table. And while seals are protected animals, we're sure they probably thought about letting him stay a bit longer — maybe even for dinner!
What if You Left a Knife in the Oven?
Like many things, cooking shouldn't be done when you're feeling tired. One good reason why is that it's very easy to forget important steps such as removing knives with plastic handles from the oven! This person must have had other things on their mind when they left this knife in the oven when preparing a meal.
Unfortunately for the person who has to clean the oven, the knife's plastic handle didn't survive the high temperatures, and the plastic began melting. Let's just hope that it didn't drip into their food!
What if You Polished a Coconut?
If you've ever seen a coconut in real life, you would know that they are covered in brown hair-like fibers making them look almost like small furry animals. And while many of us are more concerned with the sweet and soft inner flesh of the coconut, this person wanted to see what would happen if they polished the outer part.
The result? A smooth glass-like exterior that looks more like a giant chocolate egg than a coconut. We wonder if grocery stores are going to copy this idea and start selling shiny coconuts.
What if You Held a Piece of Gallium?
As anyone carrying a bar of chocolate on a warm day can attest, certain things tend to melt faster than others. What we didn't expect, however, was to learn that there is a type of metal called Gallium that actually begins to liquefy at around room temperature.
This means that the metal can easily begin to melt in your hand! Looking at this photo, it looks like an image straight out of a sci-fi film! It's quite fascinating to see metal melt like that!
What if You Washed a Dollar Bill Over and Over Again?
We've all accidentally left money in our pockets only to realize when we've already started a load of laundry. And while dollar bills typically survive a wash cycle, after several wash cycles, the ink on the bill will start to fade considerably — like this bill.
Interestingly enough, the one part of the bill that didn't quite fade was the bill's unique serial number. Though this person might have trouble paying for an item with this strange-looking bill, it is interesting to see just how hardy our currency is!
What if You Put Tums Antacids in the Microwave?
A common staple in most American medicine cabinets, Tums antacids help relieve symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. In addition to helping us with stomach issues, Tums also can become the subject of certain science experiments such as the one done by this person.
They wanted to see what would happen if they microwaved some Tums. The results were pretty surprising — it seems that when microwaved, the normally chalky tablets turn crystallized.
What if You Put Dry Ice in a Soap Solution?
Never underestimate the combination of boredom and curiosity! This person wanted to see what would happen if they dunked a chunk of dry ice into a soapy solution. The result? A cup that runneth over with tons of bubbles.
When dry ice is added to the soapy solution, it reacts to the soap and warm water, creating bubbles that are filled with water vapor and carbon dioxide. While cool to see, dry ice is extremely cold (more than 100 degrees below zero), so it must be handled safely!
What if You Left Avocados in a Bread Box for a Month?
As any fan of avocados will tell you, it can be very hard to determine when they're ready to be eaten. In fact, finding out if an avocado is ripe or not is probably one of the most common avocado-related questions on the internet.
This person probably wanted to take a break from all that guesswork when they placed their avocados in this bread box. One month later, he came back to find these furry little round balls of mold. But hey, at least they ripened!
What if You Tried to Pickle Garlic?
If you've ever wondered why your garlic has gone from its natural white color to green or blue, the answer probably has to do with what it's been placed in. When placed in an acidic environment, the enzymes and amino acids found in garlic will begin to produce blue or green-colored pigments.
And while the tie-dyed colored garlic is safe to eat, it may not be too appetizing to look at! If the color does bother you, however, you can blanch the bulbs before adding them to your pickling jar.
What if Electrical Tape Was Left in a Tool Box for Five Years?
Many people tend to collect items that might be useful to them later on. These items typically find themselves buried in an unused toolbox or in a garage.
This unfortunate roll of electrical tape was left in a toolbox for five years, all while being exposed to the harsh Texan sun. The result? The plastic began to shrink, and the pressure caused more of the tape to jut out. Let's just hope this person throws out all of the items they no longer need!
What if You Froze a Bottle of Wine?
If you think it's a good idea to briefly place a bottle of wine in the freezer so that it can cool down — don't do it! This person probably thought they would do the same thing and accidentally left their bottle in the fridge for too long, causing the bottle to freeze.
What happened next was even stranger — it seems that the low pressure created by the cold air pushed the bottle's cork down and eventually through the side! Let's just hope it didn't make too much of a mess!
What if a Train Went Over a Quarter?
Many of us have heard the myth that a quarter (or any other coin) has the ability to derail a train. And while this myth has been proven to be incorrect by engineers, doing anything near a locomotive is a dangerous idea.
This person's quarter fell onto a train track and was completely flattened by an oncoming train. Strangely enough, the only part of the quarter not to become completely distorted were the words "In God We Trust." Let's hope they learned to stay away from moving trains!
What Happens to Super Glue Over Time?
If you've ever purchased a bottle of super glue, only to use it once before finding it completely dried out, then you would agree that these bottles are simply poorly designed.
It seems that the glue begins drying within the bottle almost instantly, making the idea of using it again practically impossible. This person found that all of the glue had completely hardened inside the bottle, becoming an almost glass-like statue in the shape of its container. Pretty cool, but we're sure they wished the glue would have lasted longer.
What if You Accidentally Washed and Dried a Chapstick?
During colder months, leaving the house without some sort of lip balm or chapstick is a recipe for painfully chapped lips. This person wisely put a chapstick in their pocket for the cold weather but unwisely forgot to remove it from their pocket before doing the wash.
While the chapstick surprisingly stayed intact, it took on quite a strange shape, probably due to the high temperatures in the washing and drying machine. They're just lucky the waxy substance didn't melt and leak all over their clothing!
What Happens When the Forest Floods?
Forests, especially rainforests, are home to thousands of unique species of animals, plants, insects, and other living things. Unfortunately, some of these forests are found near rivers and lakes that have the potential to flood. This picture was taken in a nature reserve in Matto Grosso do Sul in Brazil.
It shows what happens when the entire nature reserve is inundated with water. And while we admire this person taking footage of this incredible event, we don't think we would be quick to jump into that water!
What if You Forgot to Add Water to Microwaveable Noodles?
Call it laziness or lack of time, but when it comes to preparing dinner, many of us turn to pre-made meals or meals that require the least amount of effort possible.
You would think that microwaveable noodles would be pretty hard to mess up, considering all you have to do is add water to them and microwave, but apparently, it's more challenging than it looks. This person got the microwaving part down, but they forgot to add the water resulting in this charred mess.
What if Something Was Planted in a Leaf-Shaped Tray?
Considering how particular and fragile most houseplants are, it's always incredible to see how much more resistant other plants are when left alone. This person planted many seeds in a leaf-shaped plastic container and later came back to find that the roots of the plant had taken on the shape of the container.
Because water probably pooled at the bottom of the container, it's not surprising that the roots took on the same pattern as the grooves of the plastic dish.
What if You Microwaved Bird Seed?
While microwaving bird seed isn't the most common thing, this person thought that they would be able to microwave it before trying to put it in a homemade warm-up pillow (like the ones you microwave and then hug during cold winter nights). Unfortunately, their plan went well… for the birds.
The small seeds popped in the microwave created the tiniest bowl of popcorn we've ever seen! We wonder, are they going to give this small bowl of popcorn to the birds outside for a bird movie night?
What if You Microwaved a Plastic Cup for Three Minutes?
It's generally common knowledge that microwaving most plastics can result in toxic and dangerous chemicals leaking out of the plastic and into your food or beverage.
This not-so-smart person was apparently absent that day in class when they learned about kitchen safety and decided to microwave the cup anyway. While the cup thankfully didn't melt all over the microwave, it did warp into the strange shape in the picture. We just hope they didn't drink out of it!

While most people will argue that different types of water are more of a marketing scheme, this is real proof that filtered water is simply different and even better to use when making ice.
